In the context of Chinese astrology and the Five Elements theory, auspicious elements in your destiny refer to the elements (Metal, Wood, Water, Fire, and Earth) that, according to your birth chart, are beneficial and supportive for your overall well-being and success.

The topic of elements in Zi Wei Dou Shu (ZWDS) is often overlooked and seldom analyzed.

In a Flying Star ZWDS chart, there are twelve palaces, ten Heavenly Stems, and 18 stars, each occupying a specific palace.

When the elements of the Earthly Branch, Heavenly Stem, and stars align with similar elements, they create positive outcomes for the palace. This trio configuration indicates favorable interactions between the palace and the individual.

For example, if the Wealth Palace is located in the Earthly Branch of the Monkey or Rooster, with the Heavenly Stem as Geng or Xin, and the star is Wu Qu or Qi Sha, the combination of these metal elements in the same palace is highly auspicious for the individual. If this alignment occurs in any of the six relationship palaces, the individual will experience positive relations with that palace.

Jia / YiTiger / RabbitTian Ji, Tan Lang, Hua Ke
Bing / DingSnake / HorseTai Yang, Lian Zhen, Hua Quan
Wu / JiOx / Dragon / Ram / DogZi Wei, Tian Fu, Tian Liang
Geng / XinMonkey / RoosterWu Qu, Qi Sha, Wen Chang, Hua Lu
Ren / GuiRat / BoarTian Tong, Tai Yin, Tian Xiang, Ju Men, Po Jun, Wen Qu, Hua Ji

Similarly, productive elements are also beneficial.

  • Wood produces Fire
  • Fire produces Earth
  • Earth produces Metal
  • Metal produces Water
  • Water produces Wood

On the other hand, the destructive cycle of elements has a negative effect.

While these relationships are not always conclusive, they provide positive insights when taken at face value. A more advanced technique, however, involves analyzing the flying effects of the respective Heavenly Stems, which offers further clarification of the auspiciousness, such as how the Four Catalysts are transformed. This is the remarkable power of the Flying Star Zi Wei Dou Shu (Flying Purple Star Astrology).
